About The Event

David's story is exciting, inspiring and human. As we study, we will tour the pastures, caves, and palace of one of the most well-known figures in history! David had issues and real flaws that at times threatened to destroy his spirit and even his family. We will see a man who falls very low, but repents to take hold of God's grace and forgiveness, and is ultimately restored and redeemed. David’s life story will cause us to feel many responses, but boredom will likely not be one of them! Even though David lived thousands of years ago, he dealt with many issues that continue to plague us - God’s people today. If you’ve ever had doubts, fought temptations, battled personal inconsistencies, fallen into sin, suffered losses or anguished over family problems – this Bible study is for you! David knew that God had something more for him than tending sheep for the rest of his life; he waited patiently on God’s timing and direction. We too, like David, need to learn how to prayerfully wait (and be patient) on God’s perfect timing for our lives. “David” is an in-depth, 13-week study. It will take us through twists and turns of David’s life as a shepherd, a refugee, and a king. This isn't a verse-by-verse commentary. We're covering 43 chapters in 13 lessons -- 1 Samuel 14 to 31, all of 2 Samuel, plus 1 Kings 1-2. As a result, we'll move more quickly over much of the narrative material, but slow down when it comes to key events and important spiritual lessons. The goal is to help us see the major themes and big picture of David's life, while still absorbing the important details. I hope that you'll be encouraged and inspired as you study the life of David. I know I have been! Study will be Sabbath mornings from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. in the Maroa Room.
